A God Dominated Heart

"King Work"

I Samuel 16:14-23

1. Work is our SPIRIT-ANOINTED participation in God's work. Biblically anointed means being given a job by God. It means employment.

"The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favors."--Luke 4:18

Saul was anointed but no longer. He didn't let the anointing shape his work.

David is anointed and his work is set against Saul's work

2. All true work is KING WORK .

"When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him? You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor. You made him ruler over the works of your hands…" Psalm 8:3-6

It started with Adam in the Garden of Eden.

(Genesis 2:15, 19-20)

Wherever God has you right now, you are there for the purpose of king work.

3. King work is both SERVING and RULING.

"For even the Son of man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many."—Mark 10:45

Main Point of Today's Passage:

The key to living well—that is being Spirit-anointed—isn't getting the right job or career but in doing king work in whatever circumstances we find ourselves.
