Easter Week 2008
Hear Pastor Danny's Palm Sunday sermon of March 16, and his Easter sermon of March 23 (10:30 AM).
1. The Public Inauguration of Jesus (11:1-11
2. Jesus will expose and judge all deception (11:12-19)
3. The fruitfulness that pleases the Lord (11:20-26)
Question: What would close examination reveal about your spiritual fruitfulness?
TAKE AWAY: “Every Christian will bear spiritual fruit…somewhere, sometime, somehow. Otherwise that person is not a believer. Every born-again individual will be fruitful. Not to be fruitful is to be faithless, without faith, and therefore without salvation.”
THE IMPLICATIONS OF THE RESURRECTION
Easter Sunday
The resurrection of Jesus Christ embodies three essential implications: A major announcement, a command and a call.
THE MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT:
Luke 24 :6-7, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen!”
What are the implications of this major announcement?
· Jesus is exactly who he said he is.
o Luke 22:70-71, “Are you the son of God?” Jesus replied, “You are right in saying I am.” Then they said, “Why do we need any more testimony? We have heard it from his own lips.”
o Luke 23:3, Pilate asks Jesus, “Are you the king of the Jews?” And Jesus again responds, “Yes, it is as you say.”
o John 14:6, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
QUESTION: What impact has that announcement had on your life?
A COMMAND
· Acts 2:37-38, “Brothers, what shall we do?” And Peter responded, “Repent, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.”
QUESTION: What impact has the command “to turn” had in your life?
The final implication of Jesus’ resurrection comes in the form of…
A CALL
· Galatians 1:15 the apostle Paul declares that “God set me apart from birth and called me by his grace, that I might preach him among the gentiles
· Romans 8:6, “the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace.”
QUESTION: Has the call of Jesus Christ on your life had any impact on you?
