God's glory can only be reflected in a marriage through distinction and unity.
Genesis 2:18-22

  1. Marriage reflects God's glory through a spouse's distinct traits. Genesis 3:16-19
  2. Marriage is unified through mutual submission. Ephesians 5:21-25, 33; Phillipians 2:3-4
  3. The fruit of the union of man and woman as seen through scripture. Proverbs 31:10-31; 1 Timothy 3:1-7

Questions for Consideration and Discussion:

  1. In what areas is your spouse different from you? As you think about the ways the two of you act, feel or desire, think about whether or not these are gender differences. Be nice!
  2. What does submission mean to you? What is your response to the definition: "the yielding of one's individual will for the good of the other"?
  3. Women, what do you believe are the greatest restraints for women to reach their potential as a woman, wife and friend?
  4. Men, what do you believe are the greatest restraints for men to reach their potential as a man, husband and friend?
