“Jesus replied: Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment.' And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'”—Matthew 22:37-39
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to observe all things.”—Matthew 28:19-20Our first intentional purpose is to love God. We do this in two ways:
1. By genuinely WORSHIPPING Him. John 4:4-34Sometimes spiritual dozers need to be shocked. If you want them to hear what you have to say, you might even need to be scandalous. Jesus is especially good at this. For instance, when he wants to teach us something about worship, he uses a prostitute!
2. By OBEYING His commands
John 15
1 Samuel 15:22
It is a mark of growing up spiritually to want to do what the Father wants us to do, not out of duty but out of an overriding sense of adoration and devotion.
CONCLUSION
Where does your love for Christ stand among all the stuff in your life? Is He the compelling priority, or just one thing among the many things that gets a little attention here and there?
